Geography

Mt. Laguna's geography is unique to all the world. One hour to the sunny beaches of the Pacific Ocean. Forty-five minutes to the dry heat of the Anza Borrego Desert. At the peak, elevations reach 6273 feet above sea level. The variety of terrain ranges from grassy meadows with small lakes, deep and lush forest areas to desert peaks on the east rim.

Views

The views from Mt. Laguna are spectacular! Enjoy the eastern views which expand to the Salton Sea and drop 2000 feet down shear cliffs to the Anza Borrego Desert. To the west, on clear days, the city of San Diego as well as the Pacific Ocean can be seen from roadway turnouts and mountain hillside trials.

Wildlife

Come and look for wildlife: deer, raccoons, squirrels, large assortments of birds, bobcats, turkey, coyotes, chipmunks and lots more.

Snow

Mt. Laguna receives the most snow fall out of all of San Diego County. Snow is never predictable and can happen anytime from November to the first week of June. During snowstorms, chains may be required for your vehicle. There are large areas for sledding available as well as cross country skiing. Even without the snow, snuggling up around a fireplace can be great fun.

The Lodge

Laguna Mountain Lodge also consists of a general store and gift shop which was built in the 1930's. The general store includes groceries, camping supplies, beer and wine. Our extensive gift shop has a variety of items including Natvie American gifts: jewelry, T-shirts, handmade wooden boxes and plaques, mocassins, snow apparel, sleds and much more.

1/4 mile north of the store is an amazing desert view!
